Storm chase today in west central Oklahoma. As night set in, I went ahead of the storm to get lightning.
No cloud to ground lightning, but there was enough to light up the supercell. As it got close, I decided
to wrap it up and leave. In the small town of Gracemont, I spotted a car wash building, and decided to ride the storm out there.
Just as I pulled in to the stall, the power went out, and the winds picked up to what I estimated 80 to 100mph.
Today the National Weather Service did a damage assesment and put out this statement...
TORNADO - CADDO COUNTY - NEAR GRACEMONT TO ANADARKO 922PM-940PM
THIS TORNADO LIKELY DEVELOPED NEAR GRACEMONT AND MOVED SOUTH ALONG AND JUST EAST OF HIGHWAY 8.
I went back during the day and took some damage pics.
